Asakusa, where the Japanese Buddhist Temples stood

Aside from seeing high-rise buildings and towers in Tokyo, there are places filled with typical Japanese atmosphere too.

When it comes to religions that most Japanese people practice in Tokyo, Buddhism is none other than one of the most prestigious religions chosen by the locals.

At Asakusa (浅草), it's a place where you could find many well-known temples there, one of them including Senso-Ji (浅草寺). Also, various festivals are being held annually from seasons to seasons.

Asakusa has its characteristics of of what is known as Nihonppoi (日本っぽい), meaning very Jap-ish in all aspects of view. When you reach Asakusa, the front gate with a big red lantern welcomes you with two charismatic God statues on both left and right side, namely the God of Wind, and the God of Lightning. The huge lantern with the wordings "KaminariMon"(雷門) carries a meaning of "Gate of Lightning". The captivating outer entrance has no doubt attracted many tourists to come visit this place.

Stepping inside the gate, rows of shops selling souvenirs and traditional Japanese foods can be seen along the way. Throngs of people were seen flooding the street, enjoying the fascinating ambiance of Japanese cultures, admiring the ornately made accessories from Japanese traditional wear to fans, umbrellas, chopsticks, wall-mounted ornaments, fresco, paintings etc.

The charismatic KaminariMon and it's typical Japanese shrine design.

Rows of shops selling all kinds of souvenirs and snacks.

Adorable key holders.

Chopsticks with Japanese figures.

Another entrance of Senso-Ji at the other end.

It was a shame that during my visit the outer temple was under construction.

The history of Senso-Ji.

It was forbidden to take pictures the shrine but I managed to secretly snapped one:p
This was the ceiling of the shrine, where a beautiful Goddess was dancing. (I guess)

One of the Japanese snacks on the street, banana chocolate.
I didn't try out though...
